Founded in 1985, Welfare Services Club (WSC), formerly known as Welfare Services Club (WSC), is a non-academic constituent club in NTU which provides an umbrella of voluntary activities to all students. Over the years, we have grown in membership strength and incredible expansions in activities to reach out to more service users. Currently, we run 9 Regular Service Projects (RSPs), 5 Special Projects and 5 Supporting Committees

Volunteer Movement (VM) is one of the Special Projects under the umbrella of Welfare Services Club (WSC). At its core, VM aims to cultivate and promote the spirit of volunteerism among students of NTU – through meaningful interactions with both flagship and novel beneficiaries. Our flagship programme, Kids’ World seeks to impart underprivileged children from Family Services Centres (FSCs) with important life skills and bring joy to them, both by planning impactful activities and building meaningful connections with them.

Overseas Volunteering Expedition, a Special Project under NTU Welfare Services Club, aims to provide individuals with the passion for volunteering a platform to benefit less-privileged communities beyond geographical boundaries. Striving to achieve sustainability through projects that would benefit communities in the long run, OVE hopes to promote the spirit of volunteerism by embarking on an overseas volunteering expedition.

Ignite Change (IGC) is a Special Project (SP) portfolio of NTU WSC. An annual freshmen orientation programme, we use a fresh approach different from traditional orientation programmes by exposing students to volunteerism and various service users in addition to the usual fun and games. IGC aims to bridge the connection between the students and various service users.

Camp OutReach (COR) is a special project under NTU WSC. Our mission is to work with the Deaf community in providing them a sustainable platform for the hearing and the Deaf community to volunteer together both locally and overseas. By bridging the communication gap between the Deaf and the hearing, we encourage interaction and integration beyond spoken languages.

“Disability does not equate to disqualification.” Challenge ur Limits (CurL) is a Special Project (SP) portfolio that plans exciting events to bridge our service users with special needs, student volunteers, and the public by challenging our physical and mental limits together. Through these events, we want to empower our service users, allowing both themselves and the public to see beyond their disabilities and achieve what others thought was seemingly impossible. On the individual level, we aim to ignite the spirit of volunteerism among first-time volunteers. On the societal level, we hope to form a close-knit community that shares a common passion for giving back to society.

Set up in 1996, RSP (Youth) provides NTU students opportunities to befriend the Youth-at-risk and underprivileged Youth, we have grown to over 100 members and has collaborated closely with many organisations to run various programmes for youths. The objective of RSP (Youth) is to be "A Friend, A Teacher, A Mentor" to the youths that we interact with and support.

Established in 2002, RSP (Vision of Hope) seeks to alleviate the daily struggles faced by people with visual impairment through befriending and empowering our service users and to promote awareness of the challenges they face. RSP (Vision of Hope) works closely with our primary partners, the Singapore Association of the Visually Handicapped and Etch Empathy when working towards our goal of creating a more inclusive space for people with visual impairment.

Regular Service Project for the Physically Challenged (RSPPC)’s mission is to bridge the gap between the Physically Challenged and society, to allow them to become a part of society and not apart from it. To support our mission, we conduct activities at 2 centres.

Regular Service Project - Operation Hope (RSPOH) aims to make a difference to the lives of children with chronic illnesses. We partner with KK Women's and Children's Hospital, Children's Cancer Foundation and Club Rainbow to reach out to our target service users. Our volunteers engage in special events as well as weekly play and tutoring sessions to enrich the lives of children with chronic illnesses.

Regular Service Project (Mental Health) aims to create greater awareness of our service users, and to destigmatise issues associated with mental health. We achieve these goals in three ways: weekly volunteering sessions at IMH, mental health events and mental health workshops.

Regular Service Project (Intellectually Disabled) (RSPID) works closely together with West End, a group under MINDS MYG. RSPID aims to impart practical skills to our service users so that they can be more independent and integrate them into society. We also aim to create a family of volunteers who are motivated to make a difference in the lives of our service users.

Regular Service Project Friends of Children (RSP FoC) provides weekly mentoring sessions and life skill activities for children (4 - 17 years old) from lower income families. Through our 15 centres across Singapore and 2 portfolio-wide annual events for the children, we aim not only to focus on developing our service users through academics, but also through character building and mentorship.

Regular Service Project Elders [RSP (Elders)]'s aim is to provide student volunteers with an avenue to interact with the senior citizens in our community. We organize a myriad of activities and events, working towards making a difference in the lives of the elderly around us. Our vision is to bridge the generation gap between the students and the senior citizens, with regular befriending sessions.

Regular Service Project for the Deaf Community (RSPDC) was set up under WSC with the objective of helping the Deaf community through our weekly tuition programme for Deaf children and teenagers as well as enrichment programmes for Deaf youths and adults. We have since progressed to engaging both the Deaf community and hearing public through events such as Christmas song signing performances and DConnect.

Publicity and Publications (PnP) is an important backbone of WSC, providing extensive and professional publicity and media coverage for the club’s activities. Our dynamic family comprises of four divisions - Design, Digital Imaging, Journalism and Media Development. We are responsible for maintaining WSC’s presence on its main website and respective social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn) and curate inspiring content for WSC-wide events.

Internal Relations (IR) is a supporting committee of WSC. Guided by our mission to weave WSC together, IR aims to foster social cohesion between WSC members across all portfolios through fun and exciting bonding activities and community service. We organize events that strive to strengthen ties between WSC members while creating positive impact on the community as one WSC.

Growth & Opportunities! (GO!) prides itself in raising awareness about various social issues through our flagship Social Impact events such as Ideathon (Impact through Inspiration) and Social Impact Week. We act as a platform to empower the NTU community to be changemakers, growing their awareness, skills and opportunities to contribute back to society.

Finance Committee manages the allocated budget from the Finance Office across all portfolios within WSC. Our support in the financial aspect of each portfolio’s operations enables them to focus on and achieve their respective objectives and goals and our role is paramount in making sure that the portfolios remain financially healthy at all times. We also facilitate financial procedures on claims, donations and remunerations.

Admin & Liaison is one of the supporting committees in WSC. We provide administrative support to WSC's operations by enabling the club to focus on and achieve their targets. Our aim is to generate statistical data for evaluating the club's impact measurements. The team also seek long-term meaning meaningful relationships with our sponsors to support WSC's volunteering activities.
